Ro James gives us a sneak peak of what to expect during his upcoming tour with Maxwell at Cafe Iguanas.
New York crooner Ro James took over #TouchTheMicTuedays at Cafe Iguanas Pines and blessed the ladies with a smooth rendition of his smash single “Permission.” With comedian Benji Brown holding down the hosting duties, a slew of talented up-and-comers rocked the mic before the ByStorm Ent/RCA singer and songwriter took over the stage and the VIP section. After all the lustful screams from the ladies in the crowd, James hit them with his second single “Already Knew That.”
After performing tracks off his debut album El Dorado, Ro James hung around VIP and snapped pictures with all of his fans until the doors close for the night. This is just a regular night on the job compared to his forthcoming tour schedule this summer. James plans to travel alongside R&B veteran Maxwell for his “Summer Soulstice” tour.
“Man, going on tour with Maxwell is going to be dope,” James told us exclusively backstage. “I feel like he ushered in this whole finesse. Women appreciate his music because of his sensuality, his honesty and his ability to make women feel special. So, for me, I took that same approach but with a major difference. With “Permission,” I wanted women to feel like this is finesse not like someone is just coming at them. So just to go on tour with him, I feel like its the perfect marriage of old school and the new generation. It’s a dope combination and well balanced. When I found out I was going on tour with him, I thought it was perfect. I think it’s a perfect start for me to say ‘What’s up? I’m Ro James’ and branch out from there.”
