It’s been nearly one year to the day since Michael Brown, Jr. took his last breath. Now, several hip-hop veterans are paying homage to Mike Brown.
On August 9, 2014, the community of Ferguson, MO erupted in anger when Brown was unjustly shot by a white police officer. In an effort to keep his spirit alive, several legendary MC’s are getting together with the Brown family and their supporters for a free concert in honor of the one-year anniversary of Mike Brown’s death. Talib Kweli, Bun B, and Pharoahe Monch will be performing their classics alongside other artists like Immortal Technique, Rapsody, 9th Wonder, dead prez’ M1, Tef Poe, Jasiri X, Kendra Ross, and DJ Needlz.
The show will go down nearby Saint Louis at Fubar. Entrance will be free; however, I’d recommend bringing donations like canned goods and non-perishables to help out the Hands Up United Food Bank. Of course, monetary donations for the Brown family will be accepted. Check out Talib’s post on Instagram above for more details.
